Natural Wine Dinner at Marine Hardware

On Tuesday, March 13, chef Michael Gifford and the Marine Hardware team welcome Italian winemaker Frank Cornelissen for his first visit to the Pacific Northwest. A former mountain climber from Belgium, Cornelissen moved to Mt Etna in Sicily in 2000 and now makes some of the most compelling wines coming out of the region.

Cornelissen’s earlier vintages were linear, angular, precise, and full of minerality. He has often said that in the early days his goal was to create liquid stone. His wines have softened with time now striking an elegant balance between fruit and dynamic minerality.

“We are beyond thrilled to host this dinner,” says Sennen David, Wine Director of Ethan Stowell Restaurants. “Frank is a winemaker of great skill who has an equally great reverence for what nature provides in the vineyard. I suppose that shouldn’t come as a surprise, the guy makes wine on a freaking volcano!”
