The next Ethan Stowell cook-off is coming right up—this go-round will put the city’s best Mac & Cheeses to the test. A number of chefs from Seattle and beyond and a handful of home cooks will bring their skills to the table at Tavolàta on Sunday, November 24th.

Why: Good causes & cheese!
How Much: $50 per person.

Chef competitors include: Hudson Slater from Maxwell’s in Tacoma and Freehand Gourmand, Brian Artiaco and Harley Shepherd from Castagna in Portland, Chad Bowes from Peso’s Kitchen and Lounge, Ryan Donaldson from The Stone House in Redmond, Kurt Dammier from Beecher’s Cheese, Craig and Dave Walker from Ballard Public House, and Ethan Stowell. Representing the home cooks will be: Elmer “The Mini Bartender,” Joe Jeannot from the Jopra Show, Kevin Erickson from Windermere Real Estate, Rocky “Man at Large” Yeh, and Seth Cysewski from vSpin.

Guests will be given a scorecard to taste and rate all the different mac & cheeses as the evening goes along, and the winner will receive a $200 gift card to Ethan Stowell Restaurants. The cook-off begins at 6pm and cost is $50/person. The cost includes a whole mess of mac & cheese and a big salad, to try and counteract the carb overload, plus beer. Smack talk and comparisons to Kraft are most definitely encouraged. Reservations are highly recommended, as previous cook-offs have consistently sold out. About The Cook-offs

In the past, these cook-offs—ranging from Barbeque Beatdown to Meatloaf Madness—have been wildly popular and included scores of local chefs such as Ericka Burke of Volunteer Park Cafe, Mark Fuller of Ma’Ono Fried Chicken & Whisky, and Bill “Oyster Bill” Whitbeck from Taylor Shellfish—to name just a few. Home cooks have been known to smoke the pros, and most of the cook-offs center around down home classics—gumbo, mac and cheese, chowder, and the like. Past cook-offs raised thousand of dollars for charities including the Boys and Girls Club of King County, PAWS, Northwest Harvest, FareStart, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Seattle Children’s Theatre.
