Ethan Plays The All-Star Softball Classic
On Saturday, June 21, Ethan—along with dozens of other local and national celebrities—will walk onto Safeco Field for the All-Star Softball Classic for Homeless Youth. The game is a fundraiser for the Untied Way of King County, whose goal is to end youth homelessness in our city. Ethan will be playing on Team Dan, coached by Mariner’s Hall of Fame catcher Dan Wilson.
Ethan will play alongside Ozzie “Honey Badger” Alonso, a midfielder for the Sounders; Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe from The Bachelor; Jermaine Kearse, a wide receiver for the Seahawks; Gary Payton, a Hall of Fame SuperSonics point guard; and Slick Watts, an NBA All-Star SuperSonic, just to name a few.
The opposing team is headed up by Jay Buhner, a Mariner’s Hall of Fame right fielder, and includes Edgar Martinez, the Mariner’s Hall of Fame third baseman, as bench coach as well as Lamar Neagle, a midfielder for the Sounders; Garth Stein, author of The Art of Racing in the Rain; Shawn Kemp, an NBA All-Star SuperSonic; and Mary Nam, a KOMO news anchor.
Donations can be made online in the name of either team—and the team with the highest donation total gets some game-changing helpers, like extra outs! Go Team Dan!
The game supports United Way and their homelessness prevention programs like Safe Place, shelters, paid internships, and peer-to-peer support. Every night, around 800 youth in Seattle have no safe place to stay—the game is a way to raise awareness about this serious issue and make a difference.
Gates open at 1:30pm and the game starts at 3pm. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $150 for VIP Passes. Attendees are encouraged to arrive before the first pitch—it’s always a fun and informative afternoon at the ballpark. Tickets are available online.
