SMooCH at the Showbox

The fourth annual SMooCH (Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital) event is right around the corner on Saturday, December 5 at The Showbox. VIPs are invited in at 5:30pm for food & drink from some of Seattle’s favorite chefs plus wines from Mark Ryan Winery and Sleight of Hand Cellars. At 8pm some great local musicians will perform. Best of all, 100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Guest chef Ethan Stowell has invited friends Joe Ritchie of Goldfinch Tavern, Brendan McGill of Hitchcock, Josh Henderson of Westward, John Sundstrom of Lark, Holly Smith of Cafe Juanita, and Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi of Revel, Trove, and Joule to join in the fun this year. They’ll all be whipping up bites for VIP patrons leading up to the show—offerings range from Pacific Octopus a la plancha to eggplant escabeche; a luxe seafood raw bar to Yarmuth Farms goat cheese with bone broth and hazelnuts.

The VIP event runs from 5:30pm to 8pm and includes the chef tasting as well as a silent auction. At 8pm the doors open for general admission and the show begins. Emcee John Richards of KEXP’s Morning Show will host the music portion of the evening—the lineup includes The Afghan Whigs, the legendary Sir Mix-A-Lot, beloved local singer Mary Lambert, and a surprise guest.

Tickets for the VIP event are $250, and general admission to the concert at 8pm is $50—the event is 21+. The show will be at The Showbox, located at 1426 1st Avenue in Seattle. Tickets are available from The Showbox website.

The evening benefits Seattle Children’s Uncompensated Care Fund, which fills in the gaps left by insurance or families’ inability to pay. The fund allows parents to stay focused on getting their child well and worry less about the finances. Last year Seattle Children’s provided over $120 million in uncompensated care, helping children in Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho get better regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
