A Taste of Iceland
Seattle is about to get a taste of what life is like up North as the city prepares to host A Taste of Iceland and welcomes the return of the third annual Reykjavik Calling: Sister City Showcase. The multi-day Icelandic invasion, October 10-13, will showcase the best of the country’s culture and lifestyle through a series of events celebrating Iceland’s food, music, and culture.
Icelandic Menu at Staple & Fancy
Wednesday, October 10 – Saturday, October 13 Guest Icelandic Chef and Bocuse d’Or and World Culinary Cup winner Hákon Már Örvarsson teams up with Chef Ethan Stowell to offer a special Icelandic menu at Staple & Fancy. Sourcing the freshest ingredients straight from Iceland the two chefs will offer a unique Icelandic take on Staple & Fancy’s ever-popular ‘Fancy Menu and showcase the best of Nordic cuisine. The menu, available for $45 per person, will contain a selection of seven shareable ‘chef’s-choice’ appetizers followed by a fish course, meat course and dessert. Notable ingredients highlighted on the menu include including Icelandic langoustine and free range lamb. Diners will also have the option to order a signature Reyka Vodka cocktail aptly named “Smoking Bay,” the literal translation of Reykjavik, created by Clayton Christopherson, General Manager for Ethan Stowell Restaurants.
“Whether you are familiar with Icelandic cuisine or it is something entirely new, this menu is something not to be missed,” said Chef Hákon Már Örvarsson. “Iceland has some of the freshest seafood and lamb available and I will be preparing them with ingredients sourced directly from Iceland as well. I am positive diners will be pleasantly surprised and planning their next food adventure to Iceland before even finishing their last bite.”
